In light of the recent California wildfires, Pet Evac Pak has witnessed a staggering 300% increase in orders, highlighting the urgent need for pet owners to prioritize emergency preparedness. As we strive to maintain adequate supplies of essential emergency food and water, we want to assure our customers that quality and safety remain our top priorities, even amidst supply chain challenges.

Take Action – get prepared

First, make a plan that includes your pets.  Know your routes if you have to evacuate.  Have a meet-up place with your family members in case you get separated.  If you’re not home make sure your neighbors know how to get into your home to collect your pets and their emergency kit.

We encourage all pet owners to create a comprehensive emergency kit for their pets, equipped with supplies for at least 72 hours. Your kit should include:

  • List of emergency contacts, like local veterinarians, animal control, pet friendly hotels along your route and boarding facilities
  • A copy of your pet’s vaccination records.
  • A minimum of 5 days’ worth of your pets’ medications.
  • Food and Water
  • Bowls
  • Collars and leashes or slip leads can help you get out quickly and safely
  • ID tags and ID cards
  • Basic pet first aid supplies – Make sure any products you use are labeled safe for pets.
  • Night light incase you need to evacuate in the dark
  • Mylar blanket
  • Waterproof bag for your pet’s medication and documentation

Additional items – crates, toy’s, blankets, treats.  Anything you can think of that is specific to helping your pet through this crucial time.

By taking these proactive steps, you can ensure your furry family members are well-protected in any crisis.

Lesson learned – Prepare today to keep your family and pets safe tomorrow because disasters don’t always give warning.
